Reader, there are lots of life lessons we can take away from sports. I saw this over and over again during my 13 years as a baseball mom.

Yep, my son played baseball from t-ball at 4 years old all the way through Cal Ripken league, travel teams, and ended as the catcher for his high school varsity team.

One of the biggest lessons is that mental preparation is just as important as physical training and practice. When you step on the field with confidence, it shows.

And you get better results.

But confidence, as we all know, can be tricky. It's not always easy to feel confident ... especially when self-doubt shows up to play.

Today's short video nails it when comes to harnessing the confidence you need to successfully compete:

"Don't wait around for something good to happen in order to feel good. Think about all of your past accomplishments, all of the hours of training that you put in, and your strengths ... to fuel up your confidence before you compete."

This is true for when you're competing in sports, in business, or whenever you need that boost of confidence.

Take a minute to remember all the past accomplishments that you're proud of ... those things you've done in the past that give you the current confidence to know you can do hard things, scary things, remarkable things.

Feel how you felt then. Breathe how you were breathing. Move your body how you moved it then. Did you do a victory dance? Raise your arms in the air? Make the sound of victory you made.

Put your body back into that physical state of confidence and your mind will follow.

Try it right now if you'd like.

Doesn't confidence feel GOOD??!!

You can put yourself into that confident state whenever you want to ... whenever you need to. And the more you practice doing it, the better and faster you become at getting into that state with ease.

So wherever you're competing, always step onto the field with confidence. You've got this!
