Reader, for the 17 days from July 26 through August 11, I was captivated by sports I usually don't care anything about. I watched archery, kayaking, rowing, swimming, diving, running, rugby, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and, of course, gymnastics.

Outside of the Olympics, I'm not into watching any of these sports. But the Olympics somehow changes that.

We get to see people from around the world excel at their chosen sport. And in many cases, do something that has never been done before as they set new Olympic or world records.

For me, these athletes are inspiring as examples of what's possible.

And that's especially true of those considered the Greatest Of All Time ... the GOATs.

They're considered GOATs because of the number of championships they've won, or for the records they hold. But I think it's even more inspiring to remember that even though they're considered the greatest in their sport, that doesn't mean they never lose.

Look at Simone Biles in the Paris 2024 Olympics ...

She won 4 medals - 3 gold and 1 silver. She came in 5th place and didn't win a medal at all after falling off the balance beam in that event final.

And here's why that's perhaps even more inspiring than all of her gold medals ...

Her "failures" don't diminish her overall success.

Like every single person deemed to be the GOAT in their field, Simone doesn't win every single time. She has "off" days. She falls short of her goals.

But she gets back up. She keeps going. She gives it her all.

And so should we.

You and I may never be called a GOAT by the entire world. But shouldn't we strive to be the greatest us of all time?

Imagine the amazing things you could accomplish if you were to act to your fullest potential as the greatest you of all time!

Don't let fear of failure derail you from your greatness. Embrace failure ... not because it's fun, but because it's part of the process. After all ...

Nobody wins 100% of the time, not even a GOAT.

And yet, they're still champions.

So are you.

So start acting like it.
