Reader, if you're like me, you may have a negative mindset around laziness. Please, for your greater good ...

Get over it!

Of course, being lazy can be negative if it means you neglect your responsibilities and commitments.

But laziness also can be extremely positive ... when managed properly and practiced with intention.

Here are the surprising benefits of being lazy, as shared by Dr. Sue Varma in today's video:

  • Lower blood pressure
  • Increased creativity
  • More productivity
  • Stronger problem-solving skills
  • Conserved energy
  • Better work efficiency
  • Improved emotional regulation
  • Stronger ability to get more done in a shorter amount of time

So, how can we be more intentional about our "laziness"?

  • Anticipate and schedule periods of rest around high-stress activities.
  • Try a worry diary to process and "park" your worries someplace other than in your head.
  • Do the "lazy test" to make sure your laziness is effective at leaving you restored, rejuvenated, and/or replenished.

Good, restorative laziness looks different for each person. For me, it's reading, gardening, swimming and/or floating in the pool, sometimes even taking a nap. What works for you?

If you don't know, find out! Experiment by trying a few different things, and evaluate how you feel after by doing the "lazy test."

And once you do know, try choosing intentional laziness more often.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised and happy with the results.
